What we say to ourselves, and the beliefs we hold regarding who we are contain a great deal of meaning. A loved one said or did something in your childhood that you are trying to forget. You are doing your very best to avoid thinking of a past traumatic experience, something you feel defines you in the most ugly and yet intimate of ways. Or, you may have no clue why your current behaviors, relationship difficulties, or low self-esteem are so burdensome in your life. No matter where you fall within these examples, there are likely damaging patterns of self-talk or beliefs you hold about yourself.
Exploring your inner thoughts, past experiences, and who you see yourself to be can be scary. It can take time to build the necessary trust and confidence in the therapy relationship before exploring these depths. I would be honored to take the journey with you to unpack and analyze those long-held thoughts and feelings you have about yourself – those core beliefs. Such beliefs have immense power. They can keep you trapped in a cycle of guilt and shame or regrettable behaviors. They also have the ability to bring forth healing and restoration. I want to help you identify the moments, people, and experiences tied to your past that led to the problematic beliefs that keep you stuck. The therapy space is a vessel of both brokenness and healing, deconstruction and rebuilding as we explore ways of shifting your core beliefs to be more truthful and empowering.
I am in the business of transforming lives, and I honestly believe this process requires courage. The bravery to uncover your deepest scars and perform the work necessary to tend to your greatest injuries, is not something I take lightly. I use an array of therapy methods, including EMDR, CBT, and some solution focused approaches to help you access those stuck narratives of your past, and to move toward lasting healing. I welcome your questions, skepticism, and willingness to be in the trenches of both pain and growth. I would be honored to partner with you in transforming your core beliefs.
