Where do I start?
What can I expect on that first call?
What happens at the initial session?
What should I expect going forward?
Where are you located?
How much do you charge?
Counseling sessions are $225 per 50-minute session.
Do you take insurance?
Are the sessions confidential?
If you want your therapist to share information with a doctor, family member, etc., then they will ask you to sign a written release granting them permission, without which they cannot share information.
The only exception to this is mandatory reporting, which is required of all therapists. By law, if a client is a danger to him/herself or others, or if a child or elder is in danger or has been hurt, the therapist must report it, regardless of the client’s wishes.
Your therapist will cover mandatory reporting in the first session, and answer any questions you may have.
What is trauma?
What makes LiveFree different from other counseling practices? What does it mean to “specialize” in trauma?
It is our passion to help people name what is behind their pain, empowering them to grow and heal. We love supporting people to live free—from the past, and from trauma.
What is PTSD, and how is Complex PTSD different?
Complex PTSD is related to a series of events, or one prolonged event. It arises when a person has experienced severe chronic trauma such as abuse, neglect, or repeated betrayal. Those suffering from Complex PTSD often feel disconnected from themselves and the world. We treat Complex PTSD with a combination of therapies.
What is EMDR?
I don’t know if I have PTSD, but sometimes I just feel crazy. What’s wrong with me, and can you help?
You are not crazy. Those are symptoms of PTSD and are simply signs that you have had some overwhelming experiences in your life. Think of it as your brain trying to keep you safe by staying alert. Counseling, particularly EMDR, and Neurofeedback, can really help with that.
